Mission and Objectives

The Canarian foundation of technology for entrepreneurs and people with physical disabilities, (foundation “Emprende Canarias” –FEC-) has a regional scope with offices in Tenerife and Las Palmas. It was founded at the start of 2004 by ICC president Enrique Fárez.

The main objective of the foundation is the promotion of the investigation and development of technologies that will benefit young entrepreneurs and workers with physical disabilities.

The activities and the projects of the company include:

Development and investigation of the technology in areas that will benefit and promote entrepreneurs and people with physical disabilities. Development and planning of new ideas and technologies.
To promote the transnational co-operation to projects that offer services to entrepreneurs in the Canary Islands, Northern Africa, Madeira, Azores, South America and the European Union.
The creation of the Observatory of Business and Institutional Information for Transnational Co-operation: The observatory will manage the following and analysis of the presence of communications in the areas set out by the foundation. These will be in geographical zones of interest to Canarian companies. This will ease the co-operation of companies in this sector between different companies.
To encourage steps to integrate people with physical disabilities into the workplace, especially through the promotion of business initiatives. These can include, auto-employment aides, Tele-work stations, new methods of recruiting, businesses certified in I+E, specialised training.
To encourage the development of young Canarian entrepreneurs and people with physical disabilities by the part of the business.
To impulse the formation of business initiatives related to:
- Activity sectors linked to the information and supply of new technologies.
- The formation of accessible tourism, with the removal of barriers.
- Research and development into a service for people with physical disabilities or elderly workers.
To fulfil the obligation of the law expressing the right of social and liberal integration of people with physical disabilities. With as much focus on the private sector as the public, as well as promoting the activities of specialist employment centres.
To promote the change to the accessibility and adaptation of working and studying methods to suit people with disabilities. The foundation pays particular attention to these people in the Work place and students in University studies.
The link of the working and business development of the entrepreneur and/or disabled person to the personal growth of the person. As with the building of the training and responsibility of the worker, business or organisation.
The promotion of all new and existing ideas through meetings, discussion groups and forums.

Inside this first program, run by the company, you will find the Observatory of Entrepreneurs and people with Physical Disabilities in the communication sector of the Canary Islands. This observatory manages the following and analysis of information in the communication methods of the Canary Islands, linked to the object of the foundation. This creates relations and the promotion of entrepreneurs and people with disabilities.

Equally, the foundation has been able to start the promotion of the capital risk. The funds come from specific programs normally from the European Union, including, Interreg IIIB (Madeira, Azores and the Canary Islands).

Aid and Advice

The foundation “Emprende Canarias” has the aid and support of a network of campanies and individuals from diverse backgrounds in different sectors that aid the management of our projects. Ranging from the supplying of funds to the search of sponsors. A mode of employment for: businesses, teachers, public sector companies, and specialists...

The foundation is in the process of forming a formal advice team to aid its activities in the islands. The aim is to form links to other entities that work towards the same goal.
